The world has waited many years for a more effective approach to building fire safety than relying on someone to call the authorities after seeing flames or hearing an alarm.
With Hassantuk, the United Arab Emirates has achieved it.
Hassantuk is the first ever continuously monitored, government-mandated, centralised national fire safety system. Gone are the days of isolated alarms and emergency phone calls. In their place stands a single intelligent network that connects thousands of buildings directly to the UAE’s Civil Defence.
Now, when a fire breaks out, authorities are alerted instantly. That means faster response times, more lives protected, and less damage to buildings.
The faster a fire can be stopped, the better.
Yet even as the UAE sets a new global benchmark for detection and response, the safest fire will always be the one that never starts.
And even for a world-first system like Hassantuk, one final frontier remains: prevention.
Knowing exactly when fires break out is critical – but isn’t enough. The next step is stopping fires before they start.
Hassantuk: a global first in smart building safety
Developed by the UAE Ministry of Interior in partnership with Etisalat, Hassantuk is a national fire-monitoring platform that connects building alarm systems directly to Civil Defence command centres across the country.
Hassantuk has been mandatory for all residential villas since 2024, making it the first nationwide fire-monitoring network of its kind – and a cornerstone of the UAE’s wider We the UAE 2031 vision to build safer, smarter communities.
The system ensures no alarm goes unnoticed. The moment an alarm is triggered, UAE Civil Defence is alerted automatically. Operators then contact the registered building representative. If the fire is confirmed – or if there is no response – emergency teams are immediately dispatched.
Hassantuk represents a major leap forward in fire safety. No more hesitation. No more delays. No more uncertainty. Every alarm now reaches the people who can act on it – instantly.
And the minutes saved in that process? They can be the difference between control and catastrophe, between lives lost and lives saved.
The last safety gap – and how connected fire prevention closes it
Yet for all its strength in detection and response, Hassantuk – like any reaction-based monitoring system – can do nothing to prevent fires starting in the first place. That is the next great opportunity in the evolution of national fire safety.
And that’s where Ci Safe comes in.
Ci Safe is an intelligent building safety system that uses connected sensing, autonomous response, and real-time coordination to prevent electrical fires before they start.
When combined, Ci Safe and Hassantuk create the most advanced form of fire protection available today. Ci Safe strengthens prevention while Hassantuk delivers world-class detection and response. Together they create a complete, 24/7, fire-and-building-safety system that protects lives.
Always on. Always protecting. Always ready to respond should the worst ever happen.
What is Ci Safe and how does it work?
Originally developed to prevent socket-level fires, Ci Safe has evolved into a full-scale intelligent safety platform – capable of protecting everything from single homes to entire smart cities.
The system continuously collects and monitors real-time safety data, feeding it directly into existing fire safety infrastructure, all the way up to national systems such as Hassantuk. More importantly, it doesn’t just monitor – it acts. Ci Safe intervenes at the earliest signs of danger, cutting power before an electrical fault can escalate into a fire, for example, if a socket begins to arc or overheat.
Ci Safe operates on two distinct but interconnected levels:
- Cloud AI – The system analyses data across all connected sites to learn, predict, and refine safety performance. Civil Defence teams can view aggregated insights via Ci GlobalView, a secure cloud dashboard that streams live status updates and dynamic alerts.
- Intelligent Autonomy (IA) – Embedded devices detect risk locally and cut power instantly to stop dangers escalating. Crucially, they can do this autonomously – without waiting for cloud instructions – or even an internet connection.
This dual-intelligence design ensures Ci Safe delivers uninterrupted protection – online or offline – safeguarding people, buildings, and infrastructure around the clock, 365 days a year.
Regional momentum: beyond the UAE
The UAE may be a global trailblazer – but regionally it is no outlier. Across the Gulf, governments are investing heavily in intelligent fire-safety ecosystems. The Middle East fire-protection market is now among the largest in the world, having doubled in size between 2015 and 2021 – from $2.21 billion to $4.40 billion.
In Saudi Arabia, the Public Investment Fund’s Vision 2030 giga-projects – including NEOM and Qiddiya – are redefining how cities are built, using advanced digital infrastructure and smart-city design to enhance sustainability, connectivity, and public safety. Together, they represent the Kingdom’s ambition to create the world’s most technologically advanced and resilient urban environments.
Kuwait has announced a $1.2 billion investment in smart-city infrastructure, advancing energy-efficient buildings and enhanced digital services. Meanwhile, Lusail City in Qatar is progressing as a fully integrated smart city development, complete with city-wide network connectivity and advanced monitoring systems.
This regional momentum reflects a shared commitment: to make cities not only smarter, but safer – protecting people and property through intelligent, connected infrastructure.
Why this matters to developers and investors
Systems that combine fire detection and prevention don’t just save lives – they protect property, strengthen infrastructure resilience, and build investor confidence.
Key benefits include:
- Compliance –Connected electrical fire-prevention technology helps developers meet – and often far exceed – national fire-safety requirements.
- Risk management – Ci Safe provides verifiable safety data, enabling insurers, regulators, and investors to assess and reduce risk with confidence.
- Reputation – Prioritising prevention signals leadership and alignment with the UAE and GCC vision for intelligent, safe, and sustainable cities and communities.
A partnership in prevention
The UAE has already shown the world what a world-class connected fire-detection and response system looks like. The next step is ensuring every preventable electrical fire is stopped before it starts.
At Ci Global, we’re proud to be able to play a role in that vision. Our solution, Ci Safe, doesn’t replace systems like Hassantuk – it enhances them, completing the fire-protection chain by adding prevention to detection and response.
If you’re part of the UAE or Gulf safety community and would like to explore collaboration in prevention, we’d welcome the conversation.
